BSF stands for fasting blood sugar, and RBS stands for random blood sugar: BSF A fasting blood sugar test measures the amount of glucose in your blood after you haven't eaten for at least eight hours. It's often the first test done to check for prediabetes and diabetes. A normal fasting blood sugar level is 70 to 99 mg/dL. RBS A random blood sugar test measures the amount of glucose in your blood regardless of when you last ate. It's also known as a random glucose test or casual blood glucose test (CBG test). A normal random blood sugar level is usually 125 mg/dL or lower. Blood glucose tests can be performed using a blood test from a vein, a fingerstick with a blood glucose meter, or a continuous glucose monitor. Blood glucose measured from a vein is generally considered more accurate than the other methods.
